Why We Built Heritage Booking
India has more heritage accommodation than any country in the world — thousands of palaces, forts, havelis, planter's bungalows, garden estates and royal hunting lodges that have been converted into places to stay. Yet finding and booking them has always been difficult. Most are family-run, with limited online presence. Many are listed on generic booking platforms alongside highway motels, with nothing in their listing to convey their extraordinary character and history.
Heritage Booking was built to solve this. Every property on our platform is personally inspected by our team, verified for historical authenticity, and described with the depth and honesty it deserves. We photograph every room truthfully. We tell you the history of the building. We introduce you to your host before you arrive.
What Makes a Heritage Booking Property
We apply a rigorous verification standard to every property we list:
- Age: The building must be at least 50 years old (most are over 100).
- Authenticity: Original architectural features must be preserved — not merely replicated.
- History: The property must have a documentable history that is reflected in the guest experience.
